Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Champaign, IL
Employment Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and execute electrical engineering projects across all phases of design and construction. The ideal candidate will have strong consulting and construction knowledge, proven leadership skills, and experience managing complex electrical projects in a design or consulting firm environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering efforts for projects, including client coordination, pre-design services, conceptual planning, detailed design, meetings, site visits, and overall project management

  • Review, oversee, and approve work from junior electrical engineers prior to final issuance

  • Apply strong knowledge of consulting and construction practices, including plan/specification delivery, design-build projects, and construction manager roles

  • Analyze and resolve complex engineering challenges such as conflicting design requirements, nonstandard materials, and coordination issues

  • Prepare complete electrical construction documentation, including single-line diagrams, layouts, sections, elevations, details, technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates

  • Participate in contract bidding, construction administration, and on-site project management as needed

  • Low-, Medium-, and High-Voltage Power Distribution Systems

  • Electrical Equipment, including Substations, Switchgear, and Protective Relaying

  • Electrical System Modeling, including Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination Studies

  • Lighting and Emergency Power Systems

  • Grounding and Lightning Protection Systems


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year university

  • Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience within a design and consulting firm environment

  • Strong leadership and project management skills

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and SKM/ETAP software preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois highly preferred
