Job description

Location: Detroit, MI Salary: $50.00 USD Hourly - $53.00 USD Hourly Description:
Senior Electrical Engineer (Power Systems / Utility Operations)
Location: Detroit, MI

OVERVIEW
Client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with utility power systems experience supporting transmission/distribution system analysis, outage planning, and grid operations. This is not a traditional electrical design role. Candidates must have experience within electric utilities and be familiar with power system modeling and analysis tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform system analysis using CYME, EMS, PSSE, and/or TARA
Support transmission and distribution system studies
Coordinate long-term outage/shutdown schedules with system study engineers and project schedulers
Lead shutdown review meetings and cross-functional planning sessions
Support complex outage coordination activities
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to outage planning and resource optimization
Develop engineering studies and recommend solutions to system reliability and operational challenges
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline
Utility industry experience required
6+ years of experience with CYME, EMS, PSSE, or similar utility planning/operations tools
Familiarity with State Estimator (SE), Contingency Analysis (CA), and N-1 operating practices
Experience providing operational feedback to improve EMS system models
Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Engineering or related field
Experience maintaining EMS technical applications
Familiarity with TARA applications
Transmission planning, system operations, or grid reliability experience
