Job description

Position Title

Electrical Reliability Engineer

Pay Rate:

The Job You Will Perform:

Provide safe, high quality, cost-effective, technical support to the Rome Mill Maintenance/Reliability initiatives.  Develop and implement comprehensive Reliability Centered Maintenance strategy within the area(s) assigned through actions that support achievement of mill goals, objectives, and key performance metrics.

  • Work with the area Operations and Maintenance staff to implement effective strategic maintenance initiatives that support achievement of reliability goals, objectives, key performance metrics, maintenance cost objectives, and capital projects execution.

  • Provide leadership and support to ensure Mechanical/Electrical Integrity program is in compliance with OSHA requirements and Company policies.

  • Ensure effective utilization and integrity of the computerized maintenance management system (SAP), including program and equipment upgrades, training, implementation, and modifications as needed to meet established goals and objectives.

  • Provide leadership and direction for electrical planning in the area.  All critical job plans should be reviewed by RE. 

  • Champion electrical Quality Assurance and Control (QA/QC) for the area. This includes creation of new QAQC as well as execution of existing. 

  • Provide leadership and direction to area(s) PM/PDM programs, lead Reliability benchmarking activities, and implement and share Strategic Performance Metrics to improve cost productivity, plant reliability, and achieve "World Class" Reliability excellence.

  • Provide systemic interventions to improve the overall reliability of all equipment, not just a gradual improvement one piece of equipment at a time. Utilize root cause counter measure (RCCM) to improve overall reliability.

  • Actively support the planning effort for annual shutdown to include; job planning, job coordination, resource planning and financial management.

  • Minimize unscheduled downtime and ensure the majority of maintenance is planned work.

  • Facilitate, plan and direct partial and mill-wide maintenance outages.

  • Support Capital Projects in assigned area(s).  Some projects will require total ownership. 

  • Support the Rome Mill Equipment Protection Program.  This includes ownership of some projects. 

  • Support discipline champion roles for electrical reliability. This includes Variable Frequency Drives, Motors, Electrical Power Distribution (EPD), Instrumentation and Electrical Precision Maintenance (IEPM) and Electrical Room Air Quality (ERAQ/HVAC)

  • Direct the Reliability Cadence of Execution for the area. This includes monthly lead team updates, monthly RCCM review, quarterly team meeting and finally keeping in compliance with the RCCM guidelines.

  • Support the Reliability Improvement Library.  Each area Reliability Engineer is required to complete two projects per year. 

  • Support Rome Mill Safety program. Must have NFPA 70 E. Each RE is required to completed x1 safety related project per year. 

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • B.S. in Engineering, or 10 years of professional work experience in related fields. 

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.

  • Experience with reliability improvement methods, technologies, and tools.

  • Experience working with predictive maintenance tools.

  • Experience and knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling practices.

  • Technical Experience/Skills with Instrumentation (ISA International Society of Automation Certification) Control Valves, Circuit Protection Relays for Motors, Starters and Switches, Transformers, High Voltage Equipment above 480 Volts or any equivalent Electrical Power Distribution experience.
