Description

The Mechanical Engineer II supports the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems for control system projects and specialty equipment. This role works closely with senior engineering staff and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications, performance requirements, and applicable codes and standards. The Mechanical Engineer II participates in project execution from design through installation and commissioning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components for control system projects and specialty equipment under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and documentation to support project requirements.
  • Analyze customer specifications, sales quotations, and project requirements to develop practical mechanical solutions.
  • Assist with fabrication and installation support to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated system solutions.
  • Review designs for compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Support the preparation of engineering documentation required for project approvals and certifications.
  • Participate in field activities including installation support, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system validation.
  • Assist customers and internal teams in resolving mechanical system issues during startup and operation.
  • Conduct site visits as required to gather information, verify installations, and support project execution.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation.
  • Stay current on industry trends, engineering practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in industrial systems, control systems, or specialty equipment.
  • Experience developing mechanical designs and supporting project implementation.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D CAD and engineering design software used to create, modify, and maintain engineering drawings, models, assemblies, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA and ASME.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret technical specifications.
  • Basic understanding of PLC-controlled mechanical systems and integration with electrical and control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred but not required.
