We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Tool Install team. In this position, you will lead the electrical systems design for complex semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing facilities, mentor the next generation of engineers, and drive projects to completion. You will collaborate daily with specialists across every discipline, contributing to some of the most capital-intensive and technically complex facilities on the planet. Your lead will play a central role in designing and delivering the electrical groundwork that powers advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities.

Technical Design & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead the design of power distribution systems, lighting layouts, and grounding systems for semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing facilities, ensuring designs meet project scope, schedule, and quality benchmarks.
  • Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, and arc flash studies using EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools, ensuring system reliability, safety compliance, and operational uptime for critical manufacturing environments.
  • Direct the development of electrical construction documents, including one-line diagrams, panel schedules, conduit routing plans, and equipment specifications, driving clarity and completeness to reduce field RFIs and design rework.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, serving as the team's primary technical reference for code interpretation and design intent.
  • Drive the integration of electrical systems with mechanical, process, and structural disciplines through coordinated BIM modeling and cross-functional design reviews.
  • Evaluate electrical system designs for energy efficiency and operational performance, recommending optimization strategies that reduce lifecycle costs for clients.
  • Apply field verification and troubleshooting expertise to resolve design discrepancies early, minimizing costly changes during construction.

Project Coordination & Quality Assurance

  • Coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, and procurement teams to align electrical design deliverables with project milestones, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Conduct and lead internal design reviews and quality checks, ensuring all electrical deliverables meet SSOE standards and client specifications before release.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, design reports, and technical submittals with accuracy and attention to detail.

Client Interface & Construction Support

  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for clients during design development, presenting solutions with confidence and translating complex engineering concepts into actionable decisions.
  • Collaborate with contractors by issuing RFI responses, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits to verify installation compliance with design intent.

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance, reviewing their work, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence within the team.
  • Contribute to SSOE's knowledge-sharing culture by leading lessons-learned reviews, participating in division-wide technical discussions, and helping build reusable design standards and templates.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, or semiconductor facility design, demonstrating increasing technical complexity and project leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or active pursuit with a clear path to licensure.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes and standards: NEC, IBC, IFC, and NFPA.
  • Field verification and experience to identify and resolve design-to-field discrepancies during construction.
  • Comfortable presenting technical content, managing expectations, and building long-term relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools for power system analysis and arc flash studies.
  • Prior experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or advanced high-tech facility design.
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentorship track record — having guided junior engineers, led design reviews, or contributed to team development initiatives.
  • Additional professional certifications such as LEED AP, CEM (Certified Energy Manager), or equivalent are a plus.
