Job description

Summary:

We’re working with a well-established consulting engineering firm in the New Jersey area that’s actively adding to their electrical team. This role is geared toward engineers and project managers with experience supporting public-sector and infrastructure-related projects, particularly within municipal or agency-driven environments.

This is not a pure design-only role. They’re looking for someone who can own electrical scopes across projects, coordinate with agencies and multidisciplinary teams, and stay involved from design through execution. If you’ve worked on infrastructure, utilities, transportation, or facility-related electrical systems, this will feel familiar.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and review electrical design documents including power distribution, lighting, and system layouts

Support design and coordination for infrastructure and public-sector projects (utilities, transportation, facilities, etc.)

Perform electrical calculations, load analysis, and system sizing

Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and structural teams across multi-disciplinary projects

Interface with public agencies, clients, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle

Support permitting, approvals, and compliance with local/state codes and standards

Review shop drawings, submittals, and construction documentation

Assist with construction-phase support including RFIs and field coordination as needed

Qualifications:

5–12+ years of electrical engineering or project management experience

Background in infrastructure, municipal, transportation, or utility-related projects preferred

Experience with electrical design, power distribution, and system coordination

Familiarity with NEC and general public agency standards

Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit is a plus)

Strong communication skills — able to coordinate across teams and interact with clients/agencies

PE license or working toward licensure is a plus

Benefits:

Full benefits (medical, dental, vision)

401(k) with company contribution

PTO + paid holidays

Strong backlog of public-sector work (steady pipeline, long-term stability)

Opportunity to grow into a senior-level / project management role with increased client exposure
