Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Engineering Services seeks a professional, innovative, and detailed individual for our Designer Intern position. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work full-time during the summer and/or part-timeduring the school year. If you are a current student at an accredited university in the Lakewood, CO area looking for an opportunity to develop your electrical design knowledge, learn from industry leading engineers, and enhance your academic learning, then this may be the position for you!

As a Designer Intern, a typical day might include the following:

  • Creating detailed physical and electrical designs, bills of materials, and job estimates under the technical supervision of an engineer.

  • Preparing CAD or Microstation drawings and other project documentation.

  • Providing low-level engineering support to engineers and other support personnel within division.

  • Completing assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget to a high level of quality.

  • Constructing relay equipment racks for testing purposes on projects and assist with the testing.

This job might be for you if:

  • You are a current student pursing a degree in EET, CAD, Drafting, or relevant discipline.

  • You have demonstrated competence in CADD drafting (AutoCAD and/or Microstation).

  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

  • You are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

  • You are able to to work cooperatively in team environment.
