Job description

Electrical Engineer
Outland Technology - Slidell, LA (On-site)
Full-time | $[90,000-110,000]/year
About the role
Outland Technology builds diving and inspection-class ROVs used by commercial, defense, and research customers around the world-all designed and manufactured right here in Slidell, just outside New Orleans. As an electrical engineer on a small, hands-on team, you'll own designs end to end: from schematic and PCB layout through bring-up, debugging, and supporting production. Your boards go straight into products operating in some of the harshest environments on earth. If you want real ownership of your designs and the satisfaction of seeing them ship-rather than being one cog on a giant team-this is that job.
What you'll do
  • Propose, develop, and implement new product designs
  • Evaluate and optimize existing products for manufacturability and performance
  • Select electronic components that meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation for internal and customer use
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to manage design processes, budgets, and timelines
  • Support production teams through design changes and improvements
  • Maintain accurate documentation, archives, and reports

What you bring
Required
  • BSEE with 7+ years of industry experience
  • Expertise in PCB design: schematic capture, library management, layout, and simulation
  • Hands-on experience with PCB/electronic system bring-up, debugging, and functional verification
  • Experience with microprocessors and peripheral interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, USB)
  • Knowledge of DC circuits up to 400V and 120/240V AC circuits
  • Proficiency with standard lab equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.

Preferred
  • Experience with analog video systems
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer and Eagle CAD
  • Strong soldering skills
  • Programming experience in C and/or C++

Schedule & location
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, on-site in Slidell, LA 70458. Reliable commute required, or planning to relocate before your start date.
Pay & benefits
  • Competitive salary: $[90,000-110,000]
  • SEP retirement plan
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Performance bonus, based on individual performance and company profitability
