Summary

The Electrical Engineer IV is a senior technical expert responsible for driving the design, execution, and innovation of complex electrical systems across major automation and material handling projects. Operating with broad autonomy, this role ensures system scalability, compliance, and cost efficiency while mentoring engineers and influencing the strategic direction of the electrical discipline. This role requires up to 25% travel. Join our automation team based in Atlanta, GA or Milwaukee, WI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

System Architecture & Standardization

• Define scalable electrical design solutions for multi-system environments.

• Establish and enforce standard documentation practices, part libraries, and compliance frameworks.

• Lead system-level design reviews to ensure standard adherence and risk mitigation.


Technical Leadership & Execution

• Lead high-complexity system design involving MCCs, VFDs, servo systems, and integrated safety circuits.

• Drive coordination of multi-discipline design across controls, mechanical, and project engineering teams.

• Provide advanced field support and resolution of escalated technical issues.

• Oversee all final as-built documentation and certification packages.

Team Development & Mentorship

• Act as lead mentor across all levels of the electrical engineering team.

• Provide formal and informal training to build team capability and technical depth.

• Participate in technical hiring, onboarding, and professional development planning.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Lead cross-functional design alignment for customer programs and productized solutions.

• Collaborate with Project Management on estimation, forecasting, and risk planning.

• Represent the electrical discipline in executive technical reviews and external stakeholder meetings.


Strategic Growth & Innovation

• Drive evaluation and implementation of emerging electrical technologies (e.g., DC systems, energy-efficient hardware).

• Lead initiatives for design automation and BOM standardization.

• Contribute to long-term department planning and internal capability building.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.

• 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, including lead roles in complex industrial automation projects.

• Expert-level proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical preferred, EPLAN, or equivalent.

• Advanced understanding of electrical safety, system integration, and industrial power systems.

• Ability to guide multiple engineers and manage high-stakes project timelines.

• Skilled in customer-facing design reviews and external technical communications.

• Up to 25% travel expected for onsite support and technical leadership.
