Job Description

The Electrical Engineer IV serves as the discipline lead at the project level, overseeing electrical design and managing budgets for projects ranging from simple to highly complex. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical documentation development and field implementation across all project phases, with a strong emphasis on the design and engineering of electrical systems for new construction projects.

The Electrical Engineer IV is responsible for:

  • Coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
  • Managing multiple priorities and complex tasks.
  • Directing and mentoring electrical design and engineering staff (Entry-Level through Senior).
  • Ensuring workflows align with client expectations and project goals.

The Electrical Engineer IV may work independently or under the direction of a Project Manager and plays a key role in delivering high-quality, technically sound electrical design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary electrical discipline lead for large, complex projects.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules from an electrical design perspective.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead electrical system design programming and master planning.
  • Design and engineer electrical systems for new builds, including power distribution systems (4160V, 480V, 240V, and 120V), lighting systems, grounding and bonding, and special systems.
  • Oversee quality assurance for electrical design documents, calculations, and specifications.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Support construction activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reporting.
  • Develop and deliver internal training presentations on electrical design and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on proposals, resource planning, and scheduling for the electrical scope of work.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments. Expertise
  • Expertise in electrical system design for new construction, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding/bonding, and special systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and intermediate knowledge of building codes.
  • Experience leading field surveys and preparing detailed technical reports.
  • Proficiency in cross-discipline coordination and collaboration with construction partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and system issues effectively.
