Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in the GTA, Ontario. We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 3 years of experience in design, contract administration and inspection.  Experience in CADD software (AutoCAD and MicroStation) and drafting experience are an asset. Candidate should be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across various disciplines. Recent graduates with some co-op and/or work experience are also encouraged to apply.

This opportunity will allow you to work on high-profile projects specifically in the Electrical Engineering Transportation Industry, working alongside senior members, junior staff and opportunity to work with our clients and contractors. 

This role sits within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

The Electrical Engineer will support Management and Senior Engineers in the development and administration of Roadway Lighting systems contracts. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can multitask with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, contribute as a collaborative team player across projects both within and beyond their immediate team, and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities along with effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to make changes or revisions to existing and new drawings using CADD software,
  • Ability to work with the design team in preparing conceptual and detailed design layouts and detailed drawings for various projects, 
  • Ability to utilize CADD (AutoCAD and MicroStation) software to prepare preliminary electrical layout design and detail drawings for a wide range of infrastructure projects (including layout plans, detail design, wiring schematics, equipment summary tables and charts, cross-section, and elevation drawings),
  • Ability to coordinate drawings with other disciplines, and team members, and coordination of drawing filling systems.
  • Ability to coordinate design teams, contractors and clients.
  • Ability to review construction documents and resolve technical and design issues.
  • Conduct site inspections as necessary to monitor progress and confirm compliance with contract documents.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation i.e. meeting minutes, RFIs, contemplated change orders etc.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Up to 3 years of related CADD Design experience and/or Contract Administration experience
  • Advanced skills using both AutoCAD and MicroStation and drafting experience
  • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft suite of products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project are expected, Microsoft Visio skills are an asset
  • Local travel should be anticipated.  A valid Ontario "G" license with access to reliable transportation is an asset.

The salary range for this position is $66,000-$99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
