Description

SAIC is looking for an experienced Facilities Electrical Engineer to join a versatile team supporting our customer’s global portfolio of mission critical facilities. This role involves providing technical engineering insight, leading complex design and construction projects, and ensuring the reliability of existing electrical and control systems. The position is located in Chantilly, VA and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. 
In this enterprise-level role, you will be a key contributor to our engineering team. You will be collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including the Government customer, project and construction managers, contractors, utilities, and other personnel, to ensure success across various electrical projects and challenges.
Other Key Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze, investigate, and document facilities electrical and controls issues while keeping the Government customer well-informed on all concerns and solutions.
  • Review and evaluate design documents, such as construction plans, specifications, design analysis, sequence of operations, and calculations for constructability, concurrent maintainability, and to ensure they align with the project requirements and customer standards.
  • Develop and review operational, maintenance, and commissioning methods and procedures to ensure proper site operation and system resiliency.
  • Analyze and report on power capacity, usage rates, and develop trends for individual facilities and enterprise initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analyses and provide technical solutions for existing infrastructure anomalies and project-related challenges.
  • Independently review and respond to electrical RFIs, shop drawings, and construction submittals to ensure that they meet or exceed site and enterprise standards and project requirements.
  • Lead and manage technically complex electrical engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop and review standards, specifications, design and construction scopes of work (SOW), rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates, and other technical documentation.
  • Ensure accurate and valid cost proposals are received, reviewed, and align with project SOWs. 
  • Expected to travel for 2-4 short-term TDYs per year with the potential for longer term travel in special circumstances. Overall travel of 15-20%.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. Applicants lacking clearance will not be considered.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering  and 9 years or more experience; Masters and 7 years or more experience ; PhD or JD and 4 years or more years experience. 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in intelligence, defense, or federal sectors, or a minimum of 7+ years in the commercial industry in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of facility operations, maintenance activities, and associated procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local building and safety codes, as well as standards for facility electrical systems.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification (any state).
  • Ability to travel 15-20%.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (any state).
  • Hands-on expertise with data centers, including power distribution and resiliency.
  • Experience with medium voltage electrical systems.
  • Competence in automation and controls, including concept planning, configuration, and development.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
