ABEC is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Springfield, MO. In this role, you'll lead electrical engineering efforts for custom process equipment and systems serving the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and life sciences industries.


This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys project ownership, customer interaction, and working on complex, multidisciplinary projects from design through commissioning.


What You'll Do

  • Lead electrical engineering activities for assigned projects.
  • Develop electrical designs, schematics, control panel layouts, and instrumentation solutions.
  • Define project requirements and electrical specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support commissioning, startup, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Travel as needed to support project and customer requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Electrical preferred; Mechanical, Chemical, Life Sciences, or related disciplines considered).  
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and power distribution.
  • Understanding of PLC hardware, process instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) and UL508 standards.
  • Experience with electrical load calculations and component selection.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 400/480 VAC systems and motor control circuits.
  • Familiarity with ATEX, IEC, Lean, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, Inventor, or similar design software.
  • OEM, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotech, or process equipment experience.
