The ideal candidate understands electrical systems, drawings, specifications, equipment, installation requirements, and construction sequencing and can effectively communicate technical information between office and field teams.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, schedules, details, and project requirements.
  • Identify drawing conflicts, missing information, design discrepancies, and constructability concerns.
  • Prepare and manage technical RFIs and coordinate responses with engineers, architects, GCs, and field teams.
  • Prepare, review, submit, and track electrical submittals and product data.
  • Review returned submittals for engineer comments, revisions, and field requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical equipment including switchgear, panels, transformers, lighting, controls, and other major systems.
  • Review equipment requirements for voltage, amperage, dimensions, connections, clearances, and installation requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical requirements with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, low-voltage, fire alarm, and other trades.
  • Assist with electrical layout and field coordination before installation.
  • Support field teams with technical questions, drawing interpretation, and installation requirements.
  • Track drawing revisions, bulletins, addenda, ASIs, and other design changes.
  • Determine whether design changes may create additional scope, labor, material, or schedule impacts.
  • Assist Project Managers with documenting and evaluating electrical scope changes.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers regarding technical requirements, substitutions, product information, and approvals.
  • Track long-lead electrical equipment, approved submittals, fabrication requirements, and release dates.
  • Verify that equipment and materials comply with approved plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with GCs, engineers, architects, vendors, and field leadership.
  • Assist with installation sequencing and coordination of electrical work with other trades.
  • Support testing, commissioning, inspections, and equipment startup requirements.
  • Assist with resolving inspection comments and field deficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and engineering logs.
  • Support preparation and maintenance of as-built drawings and record documents.
  • Review closeout requirements including O&M manuals, testing reports, warranties, equipment documentation, and final as-builts.
  • Perform project-site visits to review installations, verify conditions, and assist with technical coordination.
  • Help identify technical problems early before they create field delays, rework, or additional costs.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience in electrical construction, electrical engineering, or electrical project engineering.
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction systems and installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and details.
  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, panels, transformers, switchgear, feeders, branch circuits, and equipment connections.
  • Understanding of electrical construction sequencing and field installation.
  • Experience preparing and managing technical RFIs and electrical submittals.
  • Ability to recognize conflicts between plans, specifications, field conditions, and other trades.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to Project Managers, foremen, GCs, engineers, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Strong organization and document-control skills.
  • Ability to manage several technical issues and deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Comfortable working both in the office and visiting active construction sites.
Preferred Experience
  • Commercial electrical contractor or electrical subcontractor experience.
  • Electrical engineering or construction-related education.
  • Commercial tenant improvement, hospitality, retail, office, multifamily, or ground-up construction experience.
  • Power distribution and electrical equipment coordination.
