Description The Position Turlock Irrigation District is currently seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to become a valuable member of our Power Plant Engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in conceptualizing, evaluating, budgeting, designing, constructing and closing out various Capital Improvement or maintenance projects to support TID mission of providing reliable and competitively priced water and electric service. In this position you will help expand generation & storage capacity for load growth, address issues with & modernize our current aging infrastructure for life extension as well as asset optimization.

The District maintains a large generation fleet of thermal and renewable assets with the desire to add additional resources to achieve our carbon emission goals. As the owner of the 9th tallest dam in the United States, New Don Pedro, along with 27 additional dams and dikes, you will also be integral in helping the Department's internal Dam Safety division with reviewing and interpreting data as well as planning and designing instrumentation, controls and power supply projects to maintain continued safe operation of our critical dam facilities. JOB SUMMARY Under general direction to perform professional electrical engineering work related to all phases of the District's electric operations.

Examples of Duties DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Senior Electrical Engineer is the advanced professional level class in the Engineer series. Positions assigned to this classification are distinguished from the Associate Electrical Engineer classification by the performance of the more complex engineering assignments. In addition, positions assigned to this class have responsibility for all projects within their functional area as well as responsibility to provide technical and functional supervision to assigned personnel.

Associate Electrical Engineer is the professional level class in the Engineer series. Positions assigned to this classification are distinguished from the Assistant Engineer classification by having responsibility for major projects. In addition, this classification has responsibility for providing engineer's stamp and signature on drawings in conformance with government code and regulations.

Assistant Engineer is the entry-level class in the Engineer series. Assistant Engineers are assigned to work on projects under guidance of experienced engineers. Positions in this class will usually perform most of the duties required of the Associate Electrical Engineer, but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent direction and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods.

The class is distinguished from the Associate Electrical Engineer by the performance of more routine duties according to established procedures. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential: Perform complex professional engineering work in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of District electrical and communication facilities, including system modeling and planning, complex calculations, engineering studies, development of construction standards, development of operating procedures, material and equipment specifications, cost and scheduling estimates, and written reports and presentations. Ensure compliance with District safety rules, policies and rules and regulations of outside agencies that apply to District operations.

Supervise, train, and develop staff as assigned. Provide on-going feedback regarding work performance and conduct annual performance evaluations. Supervise and oversee technicians laying-out facility designs and preparing design drawings.

Manage engineering and related construction projects through their design and construction phases including project planning, scheduling, coordination, budgeting, and field inspection. Assist in long-range capital improvement planning and budgeting, including performing inspections and preparing related studies. Represent the District in the community and at professional meetings as required.

This may include presenting information on behalf of District and reporting back to management. Comply with and enforce all District rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Non-Essential: Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.

Typical Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the skills and abilities would be: Education Usually exhibited by a person with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on electrical engineering courses. Experience Senior Electrical Engineer Usually exhibited by a person with five years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience.

Associate Electrical Engineer Usually exhibited by a person with three years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience. Assistant Engineer None required. Skills and Abilities Interpersonal and Communication Senior Electrical Engineer, Associate Electrical Engineer, Assistant Engineer - Must have ability to: establish and maintain cooperative relationships with both internal and external contacts; and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management. Technical and Analytical Assistant Engineer - Must have knowledge of: electrical engineering principles and practices; and techniques for preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and recommendations related to electrical and communication facilities. In addition to the Assistant Engineer requirements: Senior Electrical Engineer, Associate Electrical Engineer -Must have ability to: perform technical engineering work of a complex nature.

Administration and Operations Assistant Engineer - Must have ability to: effectively prioritize a fluctuating workload, work well under pressure and meet continuous deadlines. In addition to the Assistant Engineer requirements: Associate Electrical Engineer - Must have strong project management skills. In addition to the Associate Electrical Engineer requirements: Senior Electrical Engineer - Must have knowledge of: principals and practices of organization, administration, budgeting, and personnel management.

Must have ability to: supervise, train and evaluate staff; work independently, with a minimum of supervision, and coordinate activities with other District personnel and with outside agencies. Supplemental Information Necessary Special Requirements Senior Electrical Engineer, Associate Electrical Engineer Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a professional engineer issued by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Must file a Statement of Economic Interest in compliance with Governmental Code Section 81000.
