Horton, Inc. has an opening for an Electrical Engineer to work onsite at our corporate headquarters in Roseville, MN.

Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for working in the product development engineering department leading and assisting embedded systems development for new and existing products. Primary responsibilities will be focused on the control of electrical-mechanical systems in the areas of: 1) Closed loop control optimization, 2) algorithm development and improvement, 3) design and layout of circuit boards, substrates, & electrical harnesses for low voltage DC applications, and 4) network communication via CAN per SAE J1939.

Responsibilities

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Motivated, self-directed, and the ability to make risk balanced decisions.
  • Performs upfront design analysis of technically complex nature, to determine capability of new designs to meet input criteria and requirements.
  • Determines when product(s) are ready for release and provides authorization.
  • Strong history of effective communication within a cross-functional team and the ability to draw conclusion and make recommendations based upon inputs from multiple functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for electrical engineering and customer oriented projects.
  • Travels to customer locations with sales staff to observe applications and collect information necessary for addressing specific customer needs.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with CAN per SAE J1939. Ability to read and broadcast messages over the network is a must.
  • Hands-on embedded control system experience.
  • Strong skills in C/C++ Programming for both embedded and PC hardware.
  • Deep knowledge of control systems and the ability to implement controls for electrical-mechanical non-linear systems.
  • Experience in hardware design using Altium is a plus.
  • Ability to decompose complex problems into tasks lists and provide timing estimates.
  • Knowledge of engine cooling systems.
  • Participates in the process of screening vendors and their products for use by Horton
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation, electromagnetic, instrumentation, and PCB Design / layout is a plus.

Qualifications

Elecrical Engineer Required Qualifications:

  • Position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 0-5 years of experience
  • 5% travel
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided now or in the future for this position.

Additional Information:

The estimated hiring range for this position is $82,000 - $120,000 per year plus bonus. Compensation will increase within the range based on experience and qualifications.
