Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for self-performing, and/or managing consultants in the preparation of electrical design services including power, process control, and telemetry for the operation and control of potable water facilities. Coordinates with electrical utilities representatives for new or upsized electrical services to water plants. Prepares process control narratives for use by SCADA integrators. Provides electrical engineering support to Company electricians. Reviews equipment and material submittals to ensure compliance with project objectives and Company standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
โข Performs and manages multiple electrical system designs and improvements for potable water plant projects
โข Prepares electrical design plans and specifications for new water facilities and improvements and replacements for existing water facilities
โข Coordinates internal and external resources (e.g., consultants) towards the completion of assigned electrical design projects while working closely with internal Asset Management departments to ensure project objectives are achieved
โข Prioritizes assigned design projects. Monitors and reports on design project schedules and budgets and implements corrective actions when needed
โข Determines size for electrical services and backup power generators
โข Prepares, reviews, and designs motor control centers, telemetry panels, and SCADA Panels
โข Performs QA/QC on electrical design projects by other engineers and consultants
โข Reviews invoices submitted by electrical consultants for accuracy
โข Reviews shop drawing submittals and approves field changes during construction phase
โข Assists in representing Company in public settings with respect to projects
โข Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
โข Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required
โข Two to five years of relevant experience in designing commercial electrical systems. Previous experience working for a regional electric company and/or another water/wastewater utility with SCADA and system controls experience is preferred
โข EIT certificate preferred with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license
โข Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 software and AutoCAD preferred
โข Strong oral and written communication skills
โข Ability to work independently to resolve cost, scheduling and resource allocation issues
โข Working knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering design, project management and safe work practices
โข Ability to analyze and solve electrical engineering problems

Must be willing to travel, including overnight stays as required by project needs. Travel may include turnaround or full-day trips by car or airplane of one to three times per month.
May include but not limited to standing, walking, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, lifting, reaching, stooping and crouching, color determination, typing, sitting, reading, speaking and listening.
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
