Job description

Job Overview

The Design Engineer is responsible for the Burndy Small Hydent product family. The position works closely with Manufacturing, Product Management, Design Engineering, Sourcing, and Purchasing to support product development and execution.The role requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, manage detailed requirements, and coordinate across multiple functions. Strong organizational skills and effective communication are essential. This role also contributes to testing and design modifications to improve the quality and function of existing products.

A Day In The Life
  • Participating in New Product Development (NPD) teams to deliver new products with a high degree of complexity; including requirements analysis and system design.  
  • Designing, developing, testing, and validation for new and existing products.   
  • Creating 3D models and drawings using Autodesk/Inventor.
  • Designing and evaluating products, parts, and processes for cost efficiency and reliability.  
  • Contributing design modifications to improve the quality and function of the products.
  • Interacting with other engineers, sales, and production, as well as with vendors and supply chain. 
     
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required)
  • Proficiency in CAD Software such as Autodesk Inventor or similar (required)
  • 3-6 years industry experience in product development
  • Experience working in a manufacturing enviornment.
  • Strong organizational skills in documenting design, testing, and validation processes
  • Experience with designing and testing for regulatory requirements (UL, CSA, etc.)
