Job description

We have an immediate need for an Electrical Design Engineer in Newton, MA.

Our client is looking to build services and capabilities through the growth of their key asset- their staff. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for commercial, industrial, municipal and healthcare facilities.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, field surveys to support design and construction phases.
  • Preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams and load calculations.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural and other team members.
  • Review of submittals and RFIs during construction administration
  • Serve as Project Engineer and Project Manager on smaller, less complex projects
  • Use engineering and design computer software to complete assigned work (i.e. Autodesk Revit MEP & AutoCAD)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-7 years of relevant electrical design experience.
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
  • EIT certification; PE license preferred or in progress.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work independently with general instructions / guidance from senior engineers to produce the expected results
  • Experience with sustainable design and LEED-certified projects.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask to meet specific project deadlines.
