SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes; Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.
Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to perform and oversee routine custodial, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs and renovations made to Unified Government recreational facilities. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing the work of assigned staff, performing maintenance and repair tasks, cleaning and painting, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Job Related Requirements
Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with occasional weekends and serves on-call.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
Emergency Position
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
High school diploma or equivalent with one year of general carpentry, plumbing, and electrical experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe work and driving record.
Must have or obtain within twelve (12) months of hire FEMA's NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 level training and maintain these trainings throughout employment.
Must be certified in First Aid/CPR or have ability to attain within 6 months of employment.
Criminal background must indicate eligibility for the supervision of inmates. Must obtain security training for the supervision of inmate workers as set forth by the Georgia Department of Corrections Standard Operating Procedures within six months of date of hire or first available opportunity.
Six months of supervisory experience preferred.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Coordinates and oversees the work of assigned staff.
Serves on night and weekend emergency on-call duty as assigned.
Performs and assists with a variety of custodial, carpentry, plumbing and electrical maintenance and repair tasks.
Coordinates and performs general building maintenance duties as needed.
Operates drill press, front end loader/tractor, ATV, tree spade, Ditch Witch, two-way radio, trail construction equipment, and tools in the work of landscaping and plumbing.
Cleans and paints buildings and auxiliary structures.
Assists with inspection, maintenance and repair of departmental swimming pools.
Installs and maintains plumbing fixtures.
Inventories, inspects, cleans, and repairs equipment and tools.
Assures safe handling of any chemicals used as a part of job duties.
Assists in maintaining and installing heating and air conditioning units.
Forms, pours, and finishes concrete, stone work, and retaining walls.
Assists with the preparation of sites, buildings, and equipment for special events.
Picks up and delivers inmates to and from Corrections facility and job sites.
Ensures compliance with security for and safety of inmates at all times.
Monitors inmate activities and behavior and ensures compliance with all Corrections Department policies and procedures.
Maintains communication with Corrections Department as required; routinely reports inmate location.
Schedules, organizes, and supervises activities of inmate work detail as they relate to maintenance and repair tasks.
Assists with the training of new employees as assigned.
Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of the Athens-Clarke County Government and the operations and functions of the Leisure Services Department.
Knowledge of management and recreational practices, policies, and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities.
Knowledge of the development and administration of operations and staff plans and objectives for the expedience and effectiveness of the specific duties of the position.
Knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job.
