Job description

About the Controls Technician Role:
This position will be responsible for development, testing and implementation of all programming and electrical controls. This would include all programmable controller platforms, graphical user interface platforms, gateways, AC/DC electrical schematic development and debugging as well as training personnel on these systems both operationally and technically. This position is key to Hearthside as most of the systems in place currently need to be upgraded and there are many missing electrical schematics this position could help to develop for troubleshooting purposes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Electrical System project management.
  • Electrical/Programming troubleshooting.
  • Electrical/Programming training of technicians.
  • Manage inventory of print library/archive and backups for all machines.

Qualifications:
  • Electrical System knowledge and experience to include VFD(s), Servos, high and low voltage troubleshooting.
  • Ability and experience troubleshooting and modifying Electrical/PLC-GUI Programming/Controls
  • Ability to use laptop to troubleshoot a PLC problem.
  • Ability to use laptop to point a Maintenance Technician to a machine problem.
  • Ability to troubleshoot scale, x-ray, and checkweigher problems.
  • Ability to resolve VFD, Servo, safety module or miscellaneous drive faults.
  • Ability to make PLC program modifications and tuning adjustments (timers, fault capture)
  • Possess a basic understanding of PID loops.
  • AutoCAD electrical schematic one-line drawing development, preferred but not required.
  • AutoCAD mechanical drawing development preferred but not required.
  • NFPA 70E Arc Flash safety certification is a plus.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Successfully multi-task.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
