Job description

ELECTRICAL INTEGRATION TECHNICIAN

Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. By treating manufacturing as a single integrated system, we unlock a new era of innovation where complex hardware is designed, built, and scaled without limits.

As an Electrical Integration Technician, you will work closely with the engineering team to build, wire, test, and bring up the electrical systems behind our advanced metal 3D printing factory, including industrial control cabinets, power distribution, motor and servo drives, harnessing, high-voltage systems, and machine networking. The systems you build will power and coordinate the actuators, sensors, and controllers that run our state-of-the-art additive manufacturing lines, and you will help take them from schematic all the way to a fully commissioned, production-ready line.

3D printing experience is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative individuals who love solving hard problems, learning new skills, teaching others, and creating amazing technology!

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and wire industrial control cabinets and enclosures from electrical drawings — power distribution, servo/VFD motor drives, controllers and I/O, and networking hardware
  • Build power distribution and machine safety circuits: transformers, breakers, contactors, DC power supplies, and E-stop systems from 480 VAC down to 48/24 VDC
  • Fabricate, route, and terminate cable harnesses and shielded cabling with proper strain relief, shield/drain termination, labeling, and clean wire dress
  • Pull, terminate, and test industrial networking (copper Ethernet/EtherCAT and fiber (SFP+)) and document connectivity
  • Support motor, servo, and drive bring-up alongside engineers: mounting, wiring, power-up, and first-pass fault diagnosis
  • Test and validate completed cabinets and assemblies without supervision (continuity, insulation resistance, and functional power-up)
  • Support installation and bring-up of complete additive manufacturing lines on the factory floor
  • Working with technicians of other trades, build and deploy electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Manage lab and build consumables, ensuring stocking of critical materials
  • Read and interpret schematics and panel layouts, follow work instructions, and help improve assembly and fabrication processes
  • Perform planned maintenance and unplanned repairs on factory and lab equipment
  • Complete 6S responsibilities (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain, safety)

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of electrical integration experience in an industrial production, controls, or panel-build environment
  • Control panel and cabinet wiring and assembly experience (terminal blocks, DIN rail, ferrules)
  • Familiarity with power distribution and low-voltage wiring practices, including proper grounding and bonding
  • Experience interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and/or blueprints
  • Experience building cables and harnesses
  • Proficiency with electrical test instruments (DMM, power supply, insulation and continuity testers, etc.)

Nice to Have:

  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude. Able to drill, cut, fasten, and mount DIN rail, enclosures, and components
  • Experience with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; able to interpret basic waveforms for testing
  • Servo drive and VFD installation or commissioning experience (e.g., Yaskawa, Allen-Bradley, or similar)
  • UL 508A industrial control panel build experience
  • Industrial networking experience, terminating and troubleshooting Ethernet, EtherCAT, or fiber (SFP+)
  • Licensed for high-voltage electrical work
  • Ability to utilize power tools, hand tools, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
