Electrical Engineer

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Schedule: Primarily 1st Shift with Some Travel

Employment Type: Full-Time

We’re seeking an Electrical Engineer to support power system studies, electrical design, and field investigations for healthcare and commercial projects. You’ll work with a collaborative team to deliver safe, reliable, and code-compliant engineering solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 3-7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience with power system studies, electrical equipment selection, and electrical calculations.
  • Knowledge of SKM Power Tools or similar power system analysis software.
  • Experience using Autodesk Revit and BIM software is preferred, not required.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • WELL AP, LC, PE, and other applicable credentials is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Power Systems Engineering:

  • Perform power system studies including Short Circuit, Coordination, Arc Flash, Voltage Drop, and Harmonics analysis, including series rating and full selective coordination studies.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and technical reports.
  • Perform equipment selection studies and validate project submittals before equipment is ordered.
  • Evaluate software options and recommend the best solutions for project needs.
  • Review system one-line diagrams and electrical drawings.
  • Recommend design improvements to enhance safety reliability and performance.

Field Engineering:

  • Conduct site visits and field investigations.
  • Verify existing equipment and document conditions.
  • Collect electrical equipment and floor plan data.
  • Photograph electrical installations for project documentation.
  • Apply equipment nameplate information and verify data accuracy.
  • Identify installation deficiencies and summarize findings.

Electrical Design:

  • Develop electrical designs under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
  • Prepare one-line diagrams, schematics, lighting layouts and calculations, power distribution plans, low-voltage raceway layouts, grounding and lightning protection specifications, and technical specifications.
  • Review applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Evaluate design alternatives and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Review life-cycle costs for major equipment and design decisions.

Project Support:

  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects, and project teams.
  • Attend site surveys, design meetings, and quality assurance visits.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and engineering documentation.
  • Assist with project scheduling and management of small engineering projects.
  • Support Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide field support and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Assist with commissioning related activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Participate in technical training and continuous professional development.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, including walking through industrial facilities and accessing electrical equipment safely.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs when necessary.
