Job description

Principal Electrical or Computer Engineer – Microelectronics Technology Team

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa (US-IA-CEDAR RAPIDS) – Onsite position. Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) and U.S. citizenship are required.

Responsibilities
  • Capture requirements and design ASIC/FPGA digital architecture using RTL with timing closure, verification, and system integration.
  • Recommend and implement new tools and practices to continuously improve the group’s ASIC/FPGA design flow.
  • Contribute to engineering estimates for new program pursuits.
  • Provide technical leadership for project design teams by breaking down work, planning activities, and reporting status.
Qualifications – You Must Have
  • STEM degree with minimum 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) and U.S. citizenship.
  • Proficiency in RTL coding and simulation in VHDL or Verilog.
  • Experience with digital circuit architecture, design resource trade‑offs, timing analysis, and timing closure.
  • Testbench development for RTL verification using VHDL or System Verilog.
  • Experience with ASIC and/or FPGA simulation and synthesis tools (e.g., Modelsim, Synplify, Quartus, Vivado, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools such as Git or Subversion.
Qualifications – We Prefer
  • Experience with best‑practice chip‑level verification techniques and languages (e.g., constrained random, functional coverage).
  • ASIC/FPGA lab validation experience with advanced lab equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a matrixed engineering team with aggressive schedules.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for documenting and presenting work.
  • Experience with Design for Test (DFT) and manufacturability considerations.
  • Advanced Unix scripting, C/C++, or Perl experience.
