Senior Electrical Engineer – PCB & Power Supply Design


Location: Clarksburg, MD | Hybrid


Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance

About the Opportunity


Our client is a leading defense technology company developing advanced autonomous systems for military and commercial vehicles. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative engineering team focused on next-generation hardware design, integration, testing, and production.


Responsibilities

  • Design high-reliability digital and analog electrical systems for autonomous vehicles.
  • Develop PCB/CCA designs incorporating SoCs, microprocessors, controllers, and interfaces including DDR, I2C, CAN, SPI, SerDes, and Ethernet.
  • Design and integrate power systems, embedded computers, networking hardware, and sensors.
  • Perform circuit simulation, power budgets, signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and design trade studies.
  • Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, prototyping, validation, and verification testing.
  • Support designs from concept through production and field deployment.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, safety, test, manufacturing, and procurement teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Improve existing designs for cost, reliability, manufacturability, and production efficiency.


Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of electrical hardware design experience.
  • Experience designing complex digital and analog circuits and 3GHz+ high-speed digital systems.
  • Experience with PCB design, multilayer PCB stackups, SI/PI, and power systems.
  • Proficiency with Altium, OrCAD, or similar PCB design tools.
  • Experience with LTSpice, HyperLynx, or similar simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, VNAs, and other test equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience designing for cost, test, and manufacturing.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive or autonomous vehicle hardware experience.
  • Embedded computer or networking hardware design.
  • Automotive camera systems, including GMSL and MIPI CSI-2.
  • Experience with ISO 26262, MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, or MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience working in a small engineering team and mentoring junior engineers.
