Sterling Engineering is looking for two Lead Electrical Designers in Houston, TX supporting Kiewit’s KOE Group on large-scale refining and petrochemical projects. This opportunity offers long-term potential supporting complex electrical design and field coordination activities within industrial environments.

Job Summary:
The Lead Electrical Designer will support electrical design and drafting activities for refining and petrochemical projects, including SP3D modeling, electrical layouts, schematics, and field coordination. This role will also support design reviews, construction support, and leadership of small project teams.

Job Duties:
  • Develop and modify electrical designs and drawings for industrial projects
  • Perform SP3D modeling and electrical layout design work
  • Support cable tray, duct bank, one-line, schematic, and area classification design activities
  • Perform layouts of electrical equipment within electrical buildings
  • Act as a field resource supporting construction and installation activities
  • Analyze, inspect, and construct designs while adhering to electrical quality standards
  • Lead small teams to complete project deliverables and tasks
  • Coordinate with project teams and support project execution activities
Qualifications:
  • 10-20+ years of relevant experience within refining or petrochemical industries
  • Strong electrical design and drafting experience within industrial environments
  • Experience leading small project teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology preferred OR High School diploma with relevant industry experience
Software:
  • SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) preferred
  • Advanced AutoCAD experience
  • Experience with 3D electrical modeling and design
Schedule:
  • Onsite to start with potential hybrid flexibility once established based on project needs
