Job Overview
Southern Electrical is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Electrical Project Manager/Assistant PM to lead and coordinate electrical construction projects from inception to completion. This role combines technical expertise with strategic planning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical engineering knowledge, construction estimating skills, and experience managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment. Duties

  • Develop comprehensive project estimates utilizing your past experience, site visits and construction estimating software as well as detailed blueprint analysis, including systems design and schematics.
  • Prepare accurate bids by analyzing project specifications, contracts, and technical drawings while considering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Lead project planning by creating detailed schedules using Primavera P6 or similar project management tools, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely execution.
  • Manage all phases of electrical system design and installation, ensuring compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and safety regulations.
  • Oversee project execution on-site by coordinating construction activities, supervising and ensuring adherence to blueprints and schematics.
  • Monitor project progress through effective project scheduling and time management techniques; adjust plans proactively to meet deadlines.
  • Facilitate communication among clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project coordination and successful delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify quality standards, safety protocols, and adherence to contract specifications; address issues promptly.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of project activities, change orders, contracts, and progress reports for transparency and accountability.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in construction estimating with proficiency in Accubid, and Procore/Plangrid software for project documentation.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering principles, system design, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and NEC compliance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management tools such as Primavera P6 or Procore for scheduling and cost control.
  • Extensive electrical experience combined with construction site knowledge; familiarity with construction management practices is essential.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately; understanding of contracts is a required. Bluebeam proficiency required.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively across multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills for clear collaboration with team members and clients alike.
