Overview:

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for identifying and managing construction projects to deliver excellent results for the clients. The Assistant Project Manager is accountable for assisting their assigned Project Manager and Senior Project Manager in the planning, day-to-day management, project completion, consumer satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will be required to support their Project Manager and Senior Project Manager in coordinating all contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications. This role will work closely with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Property Management Office, Office Services, Engineering, Security, and other building wide staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day project activities
  • Research and compile information about licenses and permits required for a particular job; manage permit approvals and liaise with design team and / or expediter
  • Enforce the contractor's safety policies along with federal and state regulations
  • Under the supervision of a Project Manager and Senior Project Manager, responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and preparing cost exposure reports and cash flow projections, maintaining comprehensive budgets and schedules
  • Ensure that the final product meets Durst standards and Client's approval
  • Schedule, and create agendas for meetings, where required
  • Visit construction sites on a regular basis with Project Manager and / or Senior Project Manager
  • Manage daily staff assignments and participate in weekly and monthly staff meetings
  • Serve as a resource, advocate, and catalyst for sustainability at The Durst Organization; apply the skills unique to your core job responsibilities for practical integration of sustainability into processes, standard operating procedures, and adopted business practices; seek to empower our colleagues, consultants, tenants and residents to prioritize and actively engage in environmental stewardship.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of experience in high rise construction
  • Four (4) year Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry practices
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to devise and implement processes and strategies to resolve complex issues
  • Knowledge of New York City building codes and Port Authority of NY and NJ's TAA's & WTCP's
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NYC DOB, and related safety requirements
  • Knowledge of CEQR and ULURP process is helpful for certain projects
  • Knowledge of trade union jurisdiction issues
  • Applied knowledge of software platforms such as Microsoft Word and Excel, scheduling software (e.g., MS Project and Primavera) as well as Visio, PowerPoint and Procore

Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 (annual)
