Position Overview:
Wentworth Institute of Technology seeks a student-centered Career and Workforce Pathways Specialist to support learners enrolled in the Massachusetts Board-approved Journeyman Electrical (JE) ProgramandtheforthcomingClimate Critical Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program (CCEPA). This role will provide individualized career advising, workforce readiness support, employer engagement, and placement coordination to help students successfully transition into apprenticeshipprograms, employment, and continued education pathways aligned withapprenticeship to journeyman-level electrician roles andMassachusetts climate and clean energyrelatedworkforce needs.
The Careerand Workforce Pathways Specialistwill play a key role in advancing equitable access to high-quality careers in the electrical and high-performance building sectors by supporting individuals who may face barriers to workforce entry, including early-career learners, career changers, and students from low-income or underserved communities. The position aligns directly with Wentworth's workforce development mission andMassCECEquity Workforce Grantobjectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Advising & Career Coaching
Provide individual career coaching and goal-setting support for students enrolled in JE,CCEPA programs, and other workforce development initiatives, as needed.
Provide critical feedback onapplication materials,resume development, interviewing skills, networking strategies, and job search preparation.
Designanddeliver group workshops and training sessions on career readiness topics includingbut not limited toresume writing, interviewing, professional communication, networking, job search strategies, workplace expectations, and navigating apprenticeship and employment pathways.
Support students in understanding apprenticeship pathways, licensing requirements, and career opportunities within the electrical and clean energy sectors.
Maintain regular student check-ins to support persistence, retention, and successful program completion.
Employer & Industry Engagement
Develop andmaintainrelationships with employers, apprenticeship programs, unions, workforce boards, and industry partners.
Coordinatewith faculty to scheduleemployer site visits, guest speakers, informational interviews, and networking opportunities.
Assistwith apprenticeship and job placement coordination.
Identifyemerging workforce trends and hiring opportunities withinconstructiontradesandclimate-critical industries including electrification, EV infrastructure, renewable energy, and high-performance buildings.
Collaborate with Wentworth staff who provide external relations, such as UA, C&C, Government Relations.
Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities
Maintainaccuratestudent records usingNavigate360
Assistwith grant reporting, participantengagement and outcomestracking, and employer engagement documentation, as needed.
Participate in related meetings,administrative systems training,andotherworkforce development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree,recognized skilled-trades credential, oran equivalentcombination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
Minimum of5years of relevant professional experience incareer services,workforce development, apprenticeship, adult education, employer engagement, talent development, ora relatedfield.
Familiarity withpathways to employment forskilled trades, construction, electrical, or clean energy industries.
Demonstrated experience developing and/or delivering career-readiness workshops, training, or group programming.
Experience providing career coaching, advising, or employment-related support to adult learners, job seekers, apprentices, or other workforce populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Massachusetts apprenticeship, workforce development, or occupational licensing systems.
Experience building relationships with employers, unions, apprenticeship sponsors, workforce boards, or community-based organizations.
Experience using student tracking or CRM systems.

About the Programs:
Wentworth's Journeyman Electrical Program is a Massachusetts Board-approved electrical education pathway designed to prepare students for licensure and long-term careers in the electrical industry. The Climate Critical Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a new two-stage workforce initiative focused on preparing learners for careers in electrification, high-performance buildings, renewable energy systems, and EV infrastructure.
Position Details:
This position is a part time, salaried position, with a 15-hour work schedule.
Please note that this position is also contingent on the availability of external funding and is subject to annual performance reviews and funding renewals. The incumbent may be separated from employment with notice if funding is reduced or discontinued. This position is currently funded with an anticipated end date of December 2028.
At this time, the university is unable to sponsor applicants for H-1B visas.
The expected yearly salary range for this position is $35,100 which reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this part-time role.
Please note that this is a non-benefits eligible position.
