Position Overview

We are seeking a Fire Alarm & Low Voltage Apprentice Technician I to assist with the installation, inspection, service, and repair of fire alarm systems, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage life safety systems. This is an entry-level or early-career role with opportunities for training, certifications, and advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, wiring, programming, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systemsand low-voltage systems (access control, CCTV, security, communication systems, etc.).
  • Assist with performing routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on fire alarm and life safety equipment.
  • Support senior technicians with system layouts, device mounting, cable routing, and equipment setup.
  • Complete service tickets, inspection reports, and documentation accurately.
  • Ensure all work complies with NFPA codes, manufacturer instructions, and company standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in clean working condition.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and team members.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company policies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical or low-voltage systems OR willingness to learn.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work on lifts or elevated surfaces.
  • Good communication, time management, and teamwork abilities.

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience with fire alarm, security, or low-voltage installations.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 72, NEC, or relevant industry standards.
  • Any fire alarm or low-voltage certifications (NICET, manufacturer training, etc.).
  • Any fire alarm or low-voltage State Licenses.
