The Job ELECTION SUPPORT WORKERS WANTED. Temporary Assignment - Starting at $20.00/hour Apply NOW for priority consideration. San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters (ROV) is recruiting for temporary Election Support Workers to assist with election operations at polling places and Early Vote Centers throughout San Bernardino County
Election Support Workers serve as Clerks or Supervisors and help ensure efficient, secure, and voter-friendly election operations. All workers are required to complete training and follow all applicable state and County-mandated election procedures. Key Responsibilities: Provide professional, courteous, and helpful assistance to voters.
Set up and take down voting equipment, signage, supplies, and other election materials. Maintain election security, confidentiality, and compliance with established procedures. Assist with voter check-in, provisional ballots, and other voter services.
Respond to voter questions and provide general assistance as needed. Work cooperatively with other election workers, supervisors, and County staff. Maintain a clean, organized, and accessible voting environment.
Follow all instructions and procedures provided by the Registrar of Voters. Complete all required training prior to assignment and demonstrate knowledge of applicable election procedures. ABOUT THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS The mission of the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters is to conduct the County's elections in a fair, accessible, secure, transparent, and efficient manner, upholding the highest level of election standards and accuracy, while always providing excellent customer service to both our team and the diverse population we serve.
The Registrar of Voters also performs all voter registration functions, including the storing and maintaining of voter registration records, administering all local, state, and federal elections managing voting systems and equipment, performing election ballot processing and vote tallying, training of poll workers, and providing voting-related services to voters, elected officials, campaign groups, and other community stakeholders. Conducting elections is both exciting and challenging. Attention to detail is critical, and working as a team is vital to accomplishing successful elections.
Permanent staff, temporary staff, and volunteers assist in the variety of complex tasks required to conduct elections. The Registrar of Voters believes that a successful team is a partnership - one that contains the following elements: Clear roles and responsibilities Shared goals and objectives Commitment to excellence A clear communication process A willingness to be open and honest Personal accountability Personal integrity CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Job offered candidates must pass a background investigation, which includes a fingerprint check, physical examination, and County driver's clearance prior to employment start date. Physical: Incumbents must be able to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
Travel/Driver's License: Travel throughout the County is required. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation. Election Workdays: Election Workers are required to work all shifts necessary to support polling place operations.
Shifts may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, County Holidays, and required overtime with short notice. Pre- & Post-Election Workdays (for applicable roles/assignments): Shifts may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and required overtime with short notice. Overtime Hours: During peak election periods, staff is required to work a significant amount of overtime.
Overtime can include evenings, weekends (both Saturdays and Sundays), County Holidays, and early morning/late night hours with short notice. Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Be at least 21 years of age Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently Available to work the mandatory shifts to support polling place operations Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will: Possess strong public speaking experience. Quickly learn, retain, and apply information and procedures. Work independently while effectively following established instructions and guidelines.
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Utilize available resources to identify solutions and resolve issues independently.
Consistently adhere to policies, procedures, and election guidelines. Maintain a professional appearance at all times. Be willing and able to travel throughout San Bernardino County as needed.
Hold a valid California Class C Driver License and maintain a clean driving record.
