Job description


This part-time role involves preparing voting equipment for elections, including logic and accuracy testing, battery charging, and assessing repairs. The technician delivers and picks up equipment, performs ADA checks, and ensures polling locations are adequately supplied. They must be able to operate a small box truck and have a valid driver's license. The position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure during election cycles.
Performs all other duties as assigned, by the Supervisor/Director/Deputy Director, the Board of Elections, and/or as prescribed by law.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and test voting equipment for each election, including logic and accuracy testing.
  • Charge batteries and assess repair needs for voting equipment.
  • Deliver and pick up voting equipment at assigned polling locations.
  • Perform ADA checks and ensure accessibility at polling sites.
  • Inspect and deliver ballot marking devices, electronic poll books, and tabulation machines.
  • Set up and retrieve ADA accessibility signage and equipment.
  • Ensure polling locations are stocked with necessary election supplies.
  • Assist in staging and picking up grip and rover kits before Election Day.
  • Properly label all voting units and delivery equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethics laws and procedures.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license is mandatory.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including effective communication.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and dependable with a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure, especially during election cycles.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications with a good understanding of PC literacy.
  • Ongoing knowledge of changes in Federal and State statutory election requirements.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing 40 lbs. or more.
  • Preference given to candidates with a CDL Class B or higher license.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
