Job description

The ELC KIDS Director is responsible for providing spiritual and strategic leadership for the 3–4-year-old ministry. This includes developing a gospel-centered curriculum, shaping the ministry culture, casting vision, and building and disciplining servant-leader teams. The Pastor of Ministries partners with the Kids Coordinator to ensure excellent experiences, parent engagement, and seamless operations. This role is for someone passionate about seeing young children encounter Jesus in a creative, safe, and spiritually transformative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ministry Leadership & Culture Development

  • Lead and shape the vision and spiritual direction for the 3–4 KIDS environment.
  • Create and implement a curriculum that aligns with ELC’s core values.
  • Cultivate a consistent, joyful, and welcoming culture for children, parents, and leaders.
  • Set the spiritual tone of all environments and team gatherings.


Curriculum & Creative Oversight

  • Oversee curriculum writing and lesson planning for all services and events.
  • Ensure all teaching is age-appropriate, engaging, and gospel-centered.
  • Lead the creative vision for room environments, themes, crafts, and sensory elements.
  • Identify and integrate media elements, take-home tools, and worship enhancements.


Servant Leader Growth & Development

  • Cast vision and provide spiritual leadership to servant leaders and teachers.
  • Mentor, train, and develop servant leaders for growth and multiplication.
  • Lead huddles, provide feedback, and cultivate a culture of encouragement and accountability.
  • Strategically recruit and develop leaders in alignment with growth.


Parent Engagement & Communication

  • Serve as a relational point of connection for parents and families.
  • Provide tools and resources that empower parents to disciple their children at home.
  • Maintain communication through newsletters, milestone updates, and event promotion.
  • Partner with parents through transitions, family milestones, and pastoral support.


Collaborative Leadership & Events

  • Work closely with the Pastor of Ministries to align vision with execution.
  • Collaborate on special events, creative elements, and church-wide initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A heart for early childhood and a calling to see children encounter Jesus.
  • Experience in ministry or childcare (preferably in a church setting).
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with child development and classroom best practices.
  • A growing relationship with Jesus and full alignment with Elevate Life Church’s mission, vision, and values.


PREFERRED: 

  • Experience in a ministry leadership role.
  • Early childhood education background or training.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to become certified).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and heart of a servant leader.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • An understanding of curriculum implementation and behavior management techniques.
  • Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly.
  • Excellent relational, communication and organizational skills and maintains a positive, can-do attitude; values personal growth and development; and demonstrates passion for positive change/willingness to grow and change with ELC.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal formats and build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide others when necessary
  • Strong project management or organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MSOffice Office Suite


MINISTERIAL EXEMPTION CLAUSE:

This position is classified as exempt from overtime and minimum wage requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) due to the ministerial nature of the role. As an employee in a ministerial position, the duties performed are integral to the religious functions of the organization and include, but are not limited to, leading worship services, providing religious instruction, and fulfilling other duties directly related to religious activities. This exemption is in line with the protections afforded to religious organizations under the First Amendment, and as such, this position is not subject to standard wage and hour regulations.
