Position Summary
El Centro de la Raza will positively impact the transition, retention, and graduation of students through an engaging environment built on academic, cultural, personal, and professional activities. El Centro's Program Assistants are critical to our mission, as student employees who support professional staff with programming and lead projects. Occasionally, they may assist with managing our front office/reception area. Program Assistants are responsible for keeping the "Home Away From Home" environment that El Centro is known for and directing students and other visitors to appropriate resources on campus. Program Assistants will leave UNM and El Centro not only equipped with the knowledge learned from their program of study but also with hands-on experience and tangible skills for post-graduation endeavors.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, coordinate & implement events, workshops, & other tasks
- Document creation, drafting, and editing
- Provide stellar customer service
- Assist in designing and giving presentations
- Represent the department at campus events, effectively communicating the value of UNM programs to visitors
- Manage, update, and archive materials and files
- Will assist with cohort-based programming (i.e. Transformar Mentorship Program)
- Communicate with partners & external contacts
- General office duties
- Other job-related duties as assigned

Transformar Mentorship & Study Abroad Programs
• Assists in the coordination of the Transformar Mentorship Program
• Assists in the planning and execution of the Transformar Study Abroad Program
• Communicates with student participants, family, and community partners
• Completes administrative duties related to programming, such as Expenditure Request Approval forms, program budget, and data tracking
• Supports the cohort sessions and serves in a mentoring capacity
• Helps lead and organize culturally relevant workshops and educational activities for El Centro community
Administration, Finance & Marketing
• Works closely with El Centro staff on administrative and fiscal functions of the department
• Completes Expenditure Request Approval's (ERA's) for various types of purchases and events, and updates the ERA Tracker Excel sheet for El Centro's accounts
• Assists with UNM and El Centro expense tracking systems and budgets (i.e. Chrome River)
• Assists with maintaining Scholarship Ledger
• Assists with tracking documents that deal with general El Centro upkeep as well as El Centro administration/finances
• Provides support with programming, reporting, and various administrative tasks
• Assists with creating and distributing the weekly newsletter and designing promotional materials like flyers and social media graphics.
