Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Develop, implement, and maintain the BrightRidge EIS applications. Analyze collected and developed data for integrity and model for connectivity databases. Work in cooperation with the BrightRidge Engineering staff to provide work order management system and GIS application integration. Provide technical and network support for all BrightRidge CAD and GIS functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain BrightRidge GIS applications integrity, i.e., work orders, databases, and mapping throughout BrightRidge's network to provide an accurate geographical distribution model for system analysis, outage control programs, and meter locations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the BrightRidge Engineering Work Order Management System. Provide technical support to Field Engineers and Engineering staff members for work order development and processing.
  • Support all system upgrades and changes.
  • Develop and maintain all application menus, symbology, scripts, library files, and their associated database applications for the work order management system.
  • Schedule and coordinate all GIS field data collection for BrightRidge functions.
  • Develop and maintain a library of GPS activity to ensure all collected data is fully collated to the BrightRidge EIS application.
  • Provide data model in support of outage management system.
  • Maintenance of company right-of-way records for both distribution and transmission systems. Integrate right-of-way information to the GIS application.
  • Creation and management of Service Map Location Numbers, coordinating accuracy with 911 agencies.
  • Prepare specialty maps and engineering drawings as requested. Prepare GIS background data as required.
  • Maintain GPS equipment.
  • Develop and implement computer-training materials for EIS and Engineering department employees regarding BrightRidge EIS.
  • Update facility as-built drawing files.
  • Evaluate all efforts and methodologies by BrightRidge EIS for practicality, implementation, and effectiveness.
  • Continued development and integration of GPS techniques and data to the BrightRidge EIS.
  • Ability to use and assist other associates in using office equipment such as printers, copiers, scanners, laminators, etc.
  • Assist in preparing requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment for use in Engineering.
  • Work with software companies to report any issues.
  • Ability to maintain reliable, predictable and reasonable attendance.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license from state of residence.
  • Assist in preparing requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment for use in Engineering and GIS departments.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Must be available for after-hours work, including working fair share of all necessary overtime.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must have a working knowledge of GIS applications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge to troubleshoot databases and database objects using standard SQL language.
  • Must be familiar with GPS technology and techniques.
  • Must have a working knowledge of relational database design.
  • Full understanding and proficient use of ESRI, including custom menu creation and network deployment.
  • Basic use of AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must have excellent PC skills, including the latest version of Microsoft Windows and Office.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires constant talking and depth perception and frequent forward bending, sitting, handling, fine manipulation and arm/hand use for machine control operation. Must occasionally lift up to 41 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most work is performed in an indoor climate-controlled office environment with appropriate lighting. Employee spends a few hours a month in the field walking long distances on uneven terrain in an outdoor, non-temperature-controlled environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technologies, or related field preferred, or a minimum of five years of professional work experience, preferably in a GIS or Civil Engineering environment.
