The EHS - Health & Safety intern position focuses on designing solutions to mitigate workplace and community safety hazards. An EHS intern position applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and must be able to explain facts, policies, and practices related to the job area.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the EHS Manager in promoting a positive safety and health culture on-site by monitoring near-miss incidents, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support the injury investigation process by collecting data, conducting interviews, and recommending appropriate action steps to prevent future injuries or illnesses.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of production areas and recommend potential improvements to management.
  • Manage recordkeeping requirements related to injuries, illnesses, and hazardous materials.
  • Assist in developing and delivering safety training programs to employees.
  • Coordinate routine facility inspections to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, training sessions, and other safety-related activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns and implement best practices.
  • Stay abreast of changes in OSHA regulations and industry guidelines, ensuring that the organization remains up-to-date with the latest safety standards.

Salaried Manufacturing Interns or Co-Op, excluding California

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a closely related field.
  • Available to work 30 hours weekly during school and full-time during breaks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards is beneficial.
  • Able to work onsite in Kings Moutain and Gastonia
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving safety issues.
