Job description

Job Description – EHS Coordinator
Position Overview: 
The EHS Coordinator provides on-site guidance and supports the implementation and execution of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs on electrical construction projects. This role assists project teams in maintaining compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and project-specific safety standards while promoting a strong safety culture.
The EHS Coordinator may independently oversee safety on smaller projects or provide direct support to an EHS Manager on larger or more complex job sites. This role includes hazard identification, incident prevention, safety documentation, and employee engagement, ensuring work is performed safely and in compliance with company and regulatory standards, including those established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
 Key Responsibilities: 
  • Support implementation of EHS programs on assigned electrical construction projects.
  • Identify hazards and assist project teams in implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and observations to verify compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in and lead the development and maintenance of Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and other project safety documentation.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety orientations, and safety stand-downs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Assist with and lead incident reporting and investigations, including documentation, identification of causal factors, and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide oversight of high-risk work activities, including fall protection, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry, and other high-risk activities.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including inspections, incident reports, training documentation, and regulatory records.
  • Participate in project safety meetings and coordinate project management, general contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support implementation of corporate EHS policies, initiatives, and safety improvement programs.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to field personnel to reinforce safe work practices and promote a proactive safety culture.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 0–5 years of experience in construction safety, environmental health, or occupational safety roles.
  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or electrical construction environments preferred.
  • Experience in Mission-critical/data-center environment is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction safety regulations including 29 CFR 1926 construction standards and basic knowledge of NFPA 70E standard for electrical safety.
Required Training / Certifications:
  • OSHA 30-Hour – Construction.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Training.
  • NFPA 70E Training
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong hazard recognition and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project management and field personnel.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to influence safe behaviors and reinforce company safety expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel to project sites as required.
Work Environment
This position requires an active presence on construction sites. Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and ladders; and perform bending, kneeling, and reaching activities. This role may require lifting and carrying materials weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. Sufficient visual acuity is required to read plans and documents and to inspect work activities and surrounding conditions. Work may occur outdoors for significant portions of the day, in varying weather conditions, with exposure to loud noise and typical construction-site hazards. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as necessary.
