Job description

Position Summary 

The Regional EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across multiple locations within an assigned region. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong safety culture and reducing workplace risk. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the primary EHS point of contact for assigned regional facilities 

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state/local regulations 

  • Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments; track and close corrective actions 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs 

  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions 

  • Support emergency preparedness planning and response activities 

  • Deliver EHS training (new hire, refresher, and specialized safety training) 

  • Monitor and report key EHS metrics (injury rates, near misses, environmental data) 

  • Partner with operations and leadership to integrate safety into daily activities 

  • Manage regulatory reporting, permits, and documentation 

  • Support workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs 

  • Travel regularly to regional sites as required 

Physical & Travel Requirements 

  • Ability to walk manufacturing or industrial sites and wear required PPE 

  • Travel up to 60% depending on region 

Work Environment 

This role operates in both office and field environments and requires flexibility to support multiple locations with varying operational needs. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field 

  • 3–5 years of EHS experience, preferably in a multi-site or regional role 

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations 

  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, and training 

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM) 

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, logistics, or industrial environments 

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 standards
