Location: Redmond, WA – Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $25–$28/hour
Contract Duration: 6–12 months, with potential for extension
Overtime: Occasional weekends and emergency response situations as needed

Position Summary

We are seeking an EHS Coordinator to support workplace environmental, health, and safety programs at a growing organization. This is a hands-on role focused on general workplace safety, basic ergonomics, safety inspections, employee training, risk identification, emergency preparedness, and corrective actions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in workplace safety, good communication skills, and the ability to work with employees and cross-functional teams in a calm, respectful, and empathetic manner when addressing safety concerns.

This opportunity is well suited for candidates with 3+ years of EHS/safety experience, as well as candidates who have completed a relevant EHS/safety internship or recently earned a degree. A degree is not required for candidates who have relevant hands-on safety experience, particularly in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of environmental, health, and safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and workplace assessments to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Identify opportunities to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support the tracking and closure of corrective and preventive actions related to safety findings.
  • Provide basic guidance and support related to workplace ergonomics and injury prevention.
  • Assist with emergency response and preparedness activities.
  • Conduct or assist with employee training related to workplace safety, emergency response, hazardous materials handling, and other EHS topics.
  • Maintain safety equipment inventories and support periodic inspections of safety equipment.
  • Monitor hazardous waste activities and coordinate with waste removal vendors as needed.
  • Assist with the proper handling and consolidation of hazardous waste, including chemical, radioactive, and/or medical waste where applicable.
  • Support environmental compliance activities and maintain appropriate EHS documentation and records.
  • Assist with workplace incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics and assist with data analysis and reporting.
  • Communicate safety requirements and concerns to employees and business partners in a professional, approachable, and empathetic manner.
  • Collaborate with various departments to promote safe work practices and strengthen safety awareness.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Participate in meetings and cross-functional initiatives related to workplace safety and risk reduction.
  • Perform other EHS-related duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in EHS, occupational safety, workplace safety, manufacturing safety, or a related field; OR
  • Relevant EHS/safety internship or recent degree with demonstrated interest in workplace safety.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; OR
  • Associate degree plus relevant experience.
  • Degree is not required for candidates with strong hands-on safety experience, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of basic workplace safety principles and hazard identification.
  • Ability to communicate safety expectations clearly and respectfully.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees across different departments.
  • Ability to address safety concerns calmly, professionally, and with empathy.
  • OSHA safety training credentials or relevant OSHA training experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing, medical device, biotechnology, laboratory, aerospace, aviation, military, or similar environment.
  • Experience with emergency response, emergency preparedness, or workplace emergency programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state/local EHS regulations.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Experience with corrective action processes.
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Experience providing safety training or employee education.
  • Experience supporting ergonomics programs.
  • Experience with hazardous materials or hazardous waste management.
  • Experience with EHS data analysis and reporting.
