Description:

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Packer position reports directly to the lead person. This position packs eggs into the correct carton with the correct date codes. This position will maintain a food safety culture and require all employees to participate.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

All employees are responsible to report food safety and quality issues to those responsible to initiate action.

  • Ensure the proper code is present on all cartons (best by sell by)
  • Verify correct eggs are being packed with code facing opening / handles for visibility
  • Verify correct lane code is on the carton. 
  • Alert Processing Lead to any problems on the line  
  • Place labels on cases for special run orders
  • Re-work cartons for improper coding
  • Re-flat eggs when necessary 
  • Ensure work area is clean before all breaks and at the end of the day
  • Observe and follow all personnel safety procedures
  • Change cases/products without stopping, grab properly labeled box 
  • Communicate with processing lead any obvious quality issues (size, dirt’s, checks) 
  • Alert processing lead when you are down to your last box (15cartons)
  • Watch for change overs 
  • Watch for missing or illegible dates on the sides of the cartons
  • Maintain more than one lane at a time causing little to no spills
  • Know what is packable (no dirty cartons are to be packed in a case) 
  • Know what is expected of your lane, restricts, packable, or overflow 
  • When cart of reworks is full take to the front loader to be re processed
  • Be able to identify lane buttons EX. Emergency stop
  • If there is an egg spill, spilled eggs go into an inedible bucket or to a blue barrel, whichever is available to you.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Backup to frontline.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not applicable.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: Egg Processing or manufacturing experience helpful.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Should possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to speak and understand English to perform the basic job function.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to perform the basic math skills, add, subtract multiple and divide whole numbers.


REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to apply common sense.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: None


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the ability to lift 25lbs on an as needed basis.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.


REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):

REQUIRED TRAINING:
