We are seeking a Senior Accountant for a high-visibility role focused on stock compensation accounting, equity reporting, and earnings per share (EPS) calculations. This position will own and support the accounting for stock-based compensation programs, including RSUs, stock options, and performance awards, while also participating in month-end close activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, variance analysis, and equity-related disclosures. The role works closely with HR, Payroll, Legal, Tax, and Finance partners to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of equity compensation programs and offers the opportunity to drive process improvements and support key business initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of strong general ledger accounting experience, and hands-on experience with stock compensation accounting. Candidates with public accounting backgrounds and experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, or JD Edwards are highly preferred. The Senior Accountant is an individual contributor role within the Corporate Accounting organization and serves as a key member of the team with significant responsibility for stock-based compensation accounting, equity reporting, and earnings per share (EPS) calculations. This high-visibility position plays a critical role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, and compliance activities, ensuring the accurate accounting and reporting of employee equity programs in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
The role is responsible for managing stock compensation accounting processes, supporting EPS and average share calculations, participating in the accounting close process, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders including HR, Legal, Finance, Payroll, and Executive Compensation. This position collaborates with peers and leadership across the accounting organization and supports various strategic business initiatives.
Job Description:
- Own and support the accounting for stock-based compensation arrangements, including RSUs, stock options, performance-based awards, and other equity compensation programs.
- Prepare and review monthly stock compensation journal entries, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and supporting schedules.
- Perform and maintain weighted average share calculations and support quarterly and annual earnings per share (EPS) reporting and disclosures.
- Participate in the monthly financial close process, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Understand business drivers and their impact on stock compensation expense, dilution, and financial results to ensure accurate financial statement reporting.
- Prepare reporting schedules and analyses that support SEC reporting requirements and financial statement disclosures related to equity compensation.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and external service providers to ensure accurate accounting and administration of equity programs.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Maintain knowledge of current accounting guidance and SEC reporting requirements related to stock compensation and EPS.
- Support the SOX control program, including controls related to equity compensation and financial reporting.
- Support quarterly and annual financial audits performed by internal and external auditors.
- Effectively partner with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and special projects.
- Responsible for other projects and accounting initiatives as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
- Large company experience required ($1B+ in revenue)
- 5+ years of strong G/L accounting experience required
- Public accounting experience highly preferred
- Large system experience highly preferred (SAP, Oracle, Workday, JD Edwards, etc)
