Job Description

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of their summer site. This includes pre-season training, in-season program management, staff coaching and management, and interactions with students and parents. The Program Manager ensures the smooth operation of daily program activities, which include snack time, outdoor play, and SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) activities. Exact parameters and daily schedules vary by partnership/site and the Program Manager is accountable for adjusting tools and information from the larger company to the specifics of their partnership/site.


Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain positive relationships with host site contacts and ensure compliance with all site requirements.
  • Meet regularly with site staff to ensure strong collaboration.
  • Manage the site budget, payroll, and timesheet accuracy while monitoring overtime.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate program staff in partnership with the Recruiting team.
  • Lead staff meetings, trainings, refreshers, and safety demonstrations.
  • Supervise and support Instructors and Program Assistants (if applicable).
  • Ensure full implementation of EDMO curriculum, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor student behavior and apply positive behavior management strategies; collaborate with the Program Culture Manager when needed.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and overall well-being of students and staff.
  • Provide responsive, professional communication with parents and partners.
  • Manage site inventory and materials.
  • Model and promote the EDMO Method, including Self-Awareness, Problem-Solving, Advocacy, Collaboration, and Empathy.
  • Complete administrative tasks and meet all deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Passion for working with children and experience leading youth groups.
  • Experience managing and coaching staff.
  • Strong classroom management and group facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including digital communication (email, Slack, etc.).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • High level of responsibility, dependability, and flexibility.
  • Previous summer camp experience preferred.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm (costumes, skits, songs welcome!).

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous satisfactory experience working with groups of students.
  • Three positive work/character references.
  • Must complete Livescan and TB test.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required by the start date. Certification must include an in-person CPR component. If you are not already certified, some compensation will be available.

Preferred Qualifications Are:

  • Experience working with children in educational or camp settings.
  • Experience coaching or supporting adult staff.
  • Familiarity with SEL and STEAM learning models.
  • Classroom teaching experience or credential (preferred but not required).
  • Positive, patient, adaptable leadership style.
  • Self-starter who is both independent and team-oriented.
  • Ability to hit the ground running and thrive in a short term environment (6 week program).

  • Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
  • Hearing: Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
  • Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
  • Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
  • Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbents may be required to move bins of supplies off of delivery trucks and into needed classrooms/spaces or to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
  • Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors and outdoors.
  • Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.

Position reports to: Senior Program Manager or Partner Relations Manager.

Salary: $1,352.00 per week

Hours: Monday - Friday, 5:30am-6:30pm
