Job description

Position Title: Clinical Nurse Manager
FSLA Status: Exempt
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Chief Nurse Executive
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for leading nursing services to ensure continuous, patient-centered care, including implementing efficient staffing plans and overseeing regulatory compliance. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, provide direct care when necessary, and keep the Director of Nursing informed about operational and patient care issues. The role also includes staff education, managing staff and clinical operations oversight, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and continuous improvement goals. As a Clinical Nurse Manager, you will help to ensure that our patients and their families receive caring and dedicated service at REHAB.
Wage Range: $100,681.10 per year to $151,021.65 per year
The actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification/Licensure:
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license

STANDARD FOR PATIENT CARE POSITIONS:
  • Current State of Hawaii RN licensure.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification.

Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a combination of education and experience.

Skills/Experience:
  • Five (5) or more years of nursing experience and include management experience.
  • Ability to safely and effectively manage patients' mobility.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification/Licensure:
  • Rehabilitation Registered Nurse Certification (CRRN) or other national nursing certifications

Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing, Business Administration, Health-Related field or equivalent education and experience in healthcare

Skills/Experience:
  • Knowledge of state, federal and other rules and regulations, including the JC and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Three (3) years of management and/or nurse clinician/specialist experience in staff development, quality improvement or other related areas in a hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of staffing plans and nursing unit assignments

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of patient care, adherence to nursing standards, and implementation of corrective actions for identified high-risk issues and gaps.
  • Conduct environment and chart audits, maintain patient care equipment, and oversee staffing adjustments based on patient needs and budget guidelines.
  • Investigate and resolve patient and staff complaints promptly, ensuring follow-ups and effective communication.
  • Coordinate and deliver staff training, education programs, and infection control measures, staying compliant with CDC, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate on compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, accreditation standards, and union agreements, ensuring audits and reports are completed.
  • Manage nursing staff, nursing schedules, staffing efficiency, and budgetary adherence while addressing performance concerns.
  • Responsible for monitoring, training coordination and quality control for departmental schedules and coverage.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety through proper use of equipment, emergency response protocols, and adherence to infection control guidelines.
  • Promote quality services, professional growth, and process improvements while maintaining confidentiality and respecting patients' rights.
  • Act as a role model, supporting REHAB's mission, and participate in initiatives to improve processes, teamwork, and communication.
  • Follows and adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and guidelines, code of conduct, and REHAB employee handbook.
  • Ensure that nursing staff that are assigned are supported.
  • Monitors call-in employees (if assigned) in coordinate with call-in availability guidelines and generates a follow-up notice.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for any payroll related issues.
  • Manages, oversees, adjusts and submits payroll approvals by the scheduled deadlines.
  • Manages facility new employee orientation schedule, competencies (initial and annual) and onboarding for assigned employees.
  • Verify accuracy of data received from Human Resources (HR).
  • Maintains accurate department records, reports and statistical data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for the hiring, orienting, training, coaching, counseling and development of employees
  • Ensures employees understands and meets performance expectations by holding employees accountable for job responsibilities, assigned duties, workplace behavior, attendance and adherence to organizational policies.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
  • Assists Executive Leadership in preparing the department(s) assigned budgets
  • Maintains a fiscal responsibility to oversee assigned cost centers, monitors and tracks expenditures and provides explanations for variances.
  • Comprehends departments budget and presents on key metrics
  • Serves as the central resource for the development and implementation of strategies which are efficient, effective, timely, patient-centered, medically appropriate for an acute rehabilitation level of care, and supports appropriate financial reimbursement
