What You Will Do:
As a Cloud Software Engineer (CSWE) Level 3 at Independent Software, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex Big Data cloud systems supporting mission-critical operations. You will contribute across the software lifecycle, including front-end development, back-end processing, data ingestion, analytics, indexing, and deployment within distributed cloud environments.
You will work with modern web, microservices, and cloud technologies to build scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions while collaborating with engineering teams throughout design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance complex software applications
  • Develop modern front-end applications and integrate them with backend services, APIs, and database interfaces
  • Develop middleware solutions to retrieve, parse, process, and deliver data to front-end applications
  • Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and performance requirements
  • Design and implement database and data repository interfaces and queries
  • Debug software, resolve defects, and improve application performance
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments
  • Develop and execute software testing procedures and ensure quality of developed solutions
  • Lead and mentor software developers, providing technical guidance and code reviews
  • Collaborate with system engineers, UX/UI teams, and other technical stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain software and system documentation

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience developing software for cloud-based or distributed computing environments
  • Experience with JavaScript and modern front-end development, including React/JSX
  • Back-end development experience with Node.js, Python, Rust, or similar technologies
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, microservices, and containerized application deployment
  • Experience with Big Data, data processing, or Information Retrieval technologies
  • Experience working in Linux/UNIX environments
  • Strong software development, integration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with NiFi, Elasticsearch, Redis, MySQL, Neo4j, Grafana, or InfluxDB
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies
  • Experience with Ansible, Salt, Terraform, or similar automation technologies
  • Familiarity with service mesh, WebSockets, cloud migration, and multi-site architectures
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest
  • Familiarity with Apache Superset, JBLOCKS, CASPORT, or agency security labeling technologies

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus twelve (12) years of Software Engineering experience supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • Four (4) years of additional Cloud Software Engineering experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree
Clearance Requirement:
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
