Our current needs

Nord Quantique is developing the software systems that enable the calibration, characterization, and operation of increasingly complex quantum processors. As these systems scale, automation, orchestration, and intelligent operational workflows become central challenges.

We are seeking a senior software developer to join our Calibration & Device Intelligence team. This team develops the software infrastructure and decision-making automation that allow quantum devices to be calibrated, monitored, and operated efficiently at scale.

This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, experimental physics, and system automation. The successful candidate will help transform experimental procedures and device behavior into robust, scalable, and highly automated software systems.

Keys responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software systems supporting calibration, characterization, and operational workflows for quantum processors.
  • Contribute to the architecture and evolution of Nord Quantique’s calibration and device intelligence stack.
  • Develop automation, orchestration, and decision-making systems informed by experimental measurements and operational feedback.
  • Collaborate with experimental teams to translate calibration and characterization procedures into scalable software workflows.
  • Contribute to software quality through architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, and debugging

Education and experience requirements :

  • BSc or MSc in computer science, software engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing software in an R&D, scientific, industrial automation, or technically ambitious environment.
  • Experience developing software interacting with experimental hardware, instrumentation, or operational systems.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary environments involving close collaboration between software and scientific or engineering teams.

Sought expertise and knowledge:

  • Strong software development skills in Python.
  • Experience designing automation, orchestration, or closed-loop systems.
  • Experience developing software for scientific instrumentation, hardware control, or experimental workflows.
  • Familiarity with optimization, system characterization, or operational decision logic.
  • Experience integrating machine learning or optimization techniques into production software systems is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with quantum computing experiments, calibration workflows, or pulse-level control systems is considered an asset.
  • Advanced level in English, to communicate with international team members
  • Intermediate knowledge of French is an asset.
