GENERAL SUMMARY

Looking for someone available in Redlands, Fontana or Rancho Cucamonga

Monday thru Thursday

School year hours

1-7pm and 3 Saturdays a month 9:15-12:30

Summer hoursย 

2 Mornings 9 - 4ish

2 Afternoons 1- 7ish

3 Saturdays a month 9:15-12:30

The Program Manager is responsible for delivering a high quality personal customer experience byย ensuring that Sylvan education programs are delivered by teachers as designed and that the ongoingย education needs of Sylvan families are met. ย To ensure a personal learning experience, they alsoย monitors student performance, meets regularly with families, and connects with school teachers toย help ensure the application of skills learned in the classroom. ย Theyย also observes and coachesย the teaching staff, ensuring robust instructional experiences.ย  ย  The Program Manager also communicates with the Center Directorย regularly to ensure quality and consistency of the customer experience.ย 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Observes and coaches instructional staff on a regular basis to ensure that teachers followย 
  • Sylvanโ€™s Instructional Management guidelines and deliver instructional sessions that areย balanced and robustย 
  • Manages and delivers all conference activities such as preparing conference materials andย meeting with parents to keep families enrolled in Sylvan
  • Sets weekly goals with Center Director to drive sales growth
  • Selects and hires teachers, ensuring that all new staff meet Sylvan hiring standards
  • Ensures that all teachers are trained and certified to deliver Sylvan programs
  • Schedules and manages teaching staff to meet Center needs and to control labor costs
  • Partners with Center Director to run day-to-day operations including customer accountย managementย 
  • Motivates and develops staff by providing ongoing learning opportunitiesย 
  • Ensures initial and ongoing progress assessments are administered according to Sylvanย standards
  • Ensures that all staff who administer assessments are trained and certifiedย 
  • Monitors student progress to ensure goals are achieved and ongoing family needs are met
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing communication with classroom teachers to ensure Sylvanย programs meet student and family needs ย 
  • May also be required to make school visits, establish and maintain relationships with schoolsย for partnership and marketing purposes
  • Checks students in and out of the Center with particular attention to student safety and well-being
  • Greets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Educationย  or in Communication
  • State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired)
  • Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred; Experience in supervisor roleย preferred
  • Knowledge of current educational policy
  • Previous retail and/or sales experience preferred
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and tablet computersย 
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and other standard business applications used by the Center
  • Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phonesย 
  • Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learnย 
  • Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop teachers/instructional staff
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skillsย 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skillsย 
  • Proven ability to discuss and sell Sylvan products and services to new and existing customers
  • Strong organizational skills; Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
  • Self-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasks
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of theย audience
  • Ability to work collaboratively; Strong team playerย 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds
