Title: Educational Assistant
Description: This individual will work primarily under the direction of the school's Interventionist/RtI Specialist, and/or the classroom teachers in order to deliver academic intervention and support to students throughout the school.
Qualifications:
  • Be a problem-solving team player
  • Have a love for working with students
  • Maintain excellent attendance
  • Ability to get along well with others
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written directions

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for the success of special education students with any qualifying combination of cognitive, communicative, language, health, physical impairments, or disabilities; as well as their classmates in inclusive settings
  • Deliver small group and individualized lessons
  • Develop and apply de-escalation strategies based on guidance/training from supervising educators
  • Follow provided curriculum/materials
  • Manage and support individuals or small groups of students and guide them through daily activities
  • Support progress monitoring with activity logs/records/reports/etc. as needed
  • Occasionally serve as a substitute for an unfilled classroom teacher's absence
  • Various student supervision duties as assigned for student arrival, classes, lunches, recess, dismissal, etc.
  • Participate in meetings as required
  • Promote a positive and professional image of the district at all times
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and guidelines of Fairfield Community Schools
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal and/or supervisor

Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Have at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Some college coursework or professional environment experience/training preferred, but not required
  • Complete and pass an Expanded Criminal Background and CPS Check

Compensation:
  • Competitive pay based upon experience

Contracted days:
  • 180 school days plus any required classified staff workdays per school year

Hours:
7.5 hours per day/5 days per week
Reports to: Building Principal and/or Building Supervisor and classroom teacher
