Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position supports the Safe Kids Treasure Coast Coalition Coordinator in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based unintentional injury prevention initiatives serving children and adolescents (birth through 19 years of age) in Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties. Injury prevention efforts include, but are not limited to, water safety, child passenger safety, pedestrian and bicycle safety, teen driver safety, safe sleep, home safety, and other emerging injury prevention priorities.
Responsibilities include developing and delivering educational programs; coordinating community outreach activities and special events; building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and other stakeholders; providing public education presentations; collecting and reporting program data; and assisting with grant implementation and program evaluation. The position requires coordination and collaboration with public, private and charter schools, where a substantial portion of injury prevention education and programming is conducted.
Programing Planning, Coordination and Implementation:Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate evidence-based injury prevention programs serving children and adolescents (birth through 19 years of age). Coordinate educational programming, trainings, school-based initiatives, community outreach events, and public awareness campaigns in collaboration with public, private, and charter schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Maintain required documentation, collect and report program data, monitor program outcomes, and ensure compliance with Department of Health and grant requirements.Assist with grant implementation, performance measures, budget tracking, purchasing, and preparation of required reports and deliverables.
Community Outreach and Direct Services: Provide direct injury prevention education through classroom presentations, community events, child passenger safety services, safety campaigns, and public outreach activities. Distribute educational materials and safety equipment; provide technical assistance to community partners; maintain certification as a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician; participate in child safety seat inspection and installation events; and promote evidence-based injury prevention strategies throughout Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties. Work is routinely performed in outdoor environments and requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, and other environmental conditions.
Community Relations:Serve as a liaison between the Florida Department of Health, Safe Kids Treasure Coast Coalition, community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and local governments. Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships, represent the Department at meetings and community events, and assist with the planning and implementation of special projects and educational initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Knowledge of community resources, computer systems, and unintentional injury trends. Ability to work with children, adults and community partners. Ability to provide technical assistance and education to diverse organizations and audiences. Public speaking, written communication, event planning, and presentation skills. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher), strong public speaking and communication skills, program planning and coordination experience, and the ability to establish effective working relationships with community partners.
