Banning Unified School District is a diverse community that collaborates to develop responsible, respectful, and prepared students to achieve their full potential. With over 500 employees and a $70M operational budget, the District serves nearly 4,500 students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Banning, Cabazon, White Water, Poppet Flats, and the Morongo Indian Reservation. With one preschool, four elementary schools, one middle school, one comprehensive high school, one continuation high school, and one independent study school, the district is one of the largest employers in the city of Banning. In February 2021, Banning Unified School District opened a first-of-its-kind Performing Arts Center at Banning High School. In addition, the 27,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility includes seating for over 500 with built-in, high-tech equipment to enhance opportunities for students to engage in advanced Career Technical Education (CTE) programs using the latest technologies.
Job Summary
Under the direction of Director of Student Services/Special Education, the Special Education Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating all activities for the department. The position is a full-time certificated staff member who will manage logistics and operations relative to the department. The Special Education Coordinator makes certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that planned provisions are followed under the direction of his/her supervisor. This role provides administrative support to the special education functions as needed, including record keeping, Individual Education Plan (IEP) file maintenance, system development, processing, and special education information system entry. The ideal candidate is in alignment with the District's mission as a diverse community that collaborates to develop responsible, respectful, prepared students to achieve their full potential.
