Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide management oversight for all phases of assigned construction projects, including coordinating and managing assigned staff, material, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.


Responsibilities

You'll serve as main contact for customers (GC, Owner, etc.), interacting with customers regularly to ensure satisfaction and repeat business. You'll maintain accurate, current and complete records for all assigned projects to measure and document both project and team progress and results from planning through closure of the project.

Additional responsibilities for this role include:

  • Reviewing contracts and negotiating with general contractor and subcontractors
  • Organizing project tasks in a clear and concise project plan that clearly defines all project requirements
  • Developing baseline schedules for projects to reflect accurate labor, material, equipment and subcontract time requirements and project constraints; Measuring baseline against actual progress and implementing appropriate corrective action as necessary
  • Ensuring billings and job cost projections are accurate and on time
  • Completing project budgets and monitoring job cost weekly for accuracy; Completing monthly work in progress (WIP) reports for review
  • Managing budgets by comparing planned to actual project costs and by implementing necessary corrective actions; Identifying and tracking items by cost codes and cost types
  • Developing change order proposals for all changes in scope from contract
  • Promoting safe jobsites; Working with Safety Team to ensure all safety issues are properly addressed


Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of design-build project management experience with a commercial electrical contractor. They should have a bachelor's degree in business, construction management, electrical engineer or equivalent experience in the electrical trade.

Additional qualifications needed for this role include:

  • Experience managing multiple public sector projects including but limited to city, state, federal, military, higher education projects is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas: electrical estimating, preconstruction planning and budgeting, scheduling, cost control, client relationship development, communication and leadership


Skills and Abilities

Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages concurrently. It requires a high level of interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal, and someone who is a self-starter, capable of working both independently and as a member of a group.
